Avoid: Soggy media, poor airflow and small shallow pots for long-term growing
Recommended Chaiyo Mix for Home Growing
At our Thailand nursery, we grow Artichoke Imperial Star using 100% Chaiyo Universal Substrate under nursery growing conditions.
If repotting into a larger pot, we recommend
Chaiyo Universal Substrate as a suitable potting base. Artichoke Imperial Star grows best in a larger pot with good sunlight, airflow and consistent moisture.
If your growing area is more humid, low-airflow, or the media stays wet for too long, add Perlite 2–4mm or French Bark Nugget 8–15mm to improve drainage and airflow.
Adjust watering based on sunlight, airflow, heat and humidity. Keep the media lightly moist, but avoid letting it stay soggy.
Harvesting Note
Artichoke buds form when the plant is mature and growing conditions are suitable. Bud production depends on plant maturity, sunlight, pot size, care and growing conditions.
Important Note
This is a live plant. Plant size, shape and fullness may vary slightly from photos. For best long-term growth, Artichoke Imperial Star should be grown in a larger pot or suitable garden space as it matures.
