Care Guide

Light: Full sun to partial shade, ideally 4–8 hours daily
Water: Keep media lightly moist, but not waterlogged
Airflow: Grow in a bright and airy location
Media: Can be grown in its current pot; repot using Chaiyo Universal Substrate if upsizing later
Optional Amendment: Add Perlite or French Bark Nugget 8–15mm if your growing area is humid, shaded, low-airflow or the media stays wet for too long
Avoid: Overwatering, soggy media and letting the plant dry out completely for long periods

Recommended Chaiyo Mix for Home Growing
At our Thailand nursery, we grow Basil Red Rubin using VEP Mix under nursery growing conditions.

For home growing, we recommend Chaiyo Universal Substrate as a suitable potting base when repotting or upsizing. If your growing area is more humid, shaded, low-airflow, or the media stays wet for too long, add Perlite or French Bark Nugget 8–15mm to improve drainage and airflow.

Adjust watering based on sunlight, airflow, heat and humidity. Basil enjoys consistent moisture, but the media should not stay soggy.

Harvesting Tip
Snip leaves and top stems regularly to encourage bushier growth. Harvest before flowering for the best flavour and aroma.

Important Note
This is a live plant. Plant size, shape, fullness and leaf colour may vary slightly from photos. The 15cm pot is a larger potted option, but fullness may still vary depending on harvest condition and plant batch.
