Dino Kale, also commonly known as Lacinato Kale or Dinosaur Kale, is an edible leafy green known for its long dark green leaves and slightly crinkled texture.
It is commonly used for salads, soups, stir-fries, smoothies, pasta, western dishes and home edible gardens. Its firm leaves and rich green colour make it a popular leafy vegetable for customers who enjoy harvesting fresh greens at home.
Our Dino Kale plants are grown in our Thailand nursery following organic growing standards.

Care Guide
Light: Bright light to morning sun, ideally 4–6 hours daily
Water: Keep media consistently moist, but not waterlogged
Airflow: Grow in a bright and airy location
Media: Repot using Chaiyo VEP Substrate
Optional Amendment: Add a small amount of Perlite 2–4mm only if your growing area is low-airflow or the media stays overly wet
Avoid: Letting the plant dry out completely, soggy media and harsh afternoon sun immediately after repotting
Recommended Chaiyo Mix for Home Growing
At our Thailand nursery, we grow Dino Kale using Chaiyo VEP Substrate under nursery growing conditions.
For home growing, we recommend
Chaiyo VEP Substrate as a suitable potting base. VEP Substrate is suitable for leafy greens and supports healthy leaf growth while helping the media hold consistent moisture.
Adjust watering based on sunlight, airflow, heat and humidity. Dino Kale enjoys consistent moisture, but the media should not stay soggy.
Harvesting Tip
Harvest outer leaves when needed and allow the centre to continue growing. Regular light harvesting encourages fresh new leaves.
