Light: Bright indirect light to morning sun
Water: Keep media evenly moist, but not waterlogged
Airflow: Grow in a bright and airy location
Media: Repot using Chaiyo Universal Substrate
Optional Amendment: Add Perlite 2–4mm or French Bark Nugget 8–15mm if your growing area is humid, low-airflow or the media stays wet for too long
Avoid: Harsh afternoon sun, overwatering, soggy media and letting the plant dry out completely for long periods
Recommended Chaiyo Mix for Home Growing
At our Thailand nursery, we grow Hydrangea using Chaiyo Universal Substrate under nursery growing conditions.
For home growing, we recommend
Chaiyo Universal Substrate as a suitable potting base. Hydrangea enjoys consistent moisture, but the media should not stay soggy.
If your growing area is more humid, low-airflow, or the media stays wet for too long, add Perlite 2–4mm or French Bark Nugget 8–15mm to improve drainage and airflow.
Adjust watering based on sunlight, airflow, heat and humidity. Hydrangea prefers evenly moist media and should be placed away from harsh afternoon sun.
Flowering Note
Hydrangea flowering depends on plant maturity, sunlight, care and growing conditions. Plants may not be flowering at the time of delivery.
