  • Avoid: Overwatering, soggy media and letting the plant dry out completely for long periods

Recommended Chaiyo Mix for Home Growing
At our Thailand nursery, we grow Italian Basil Dark Opal using VEP Mix under nursery growing conditions.

For home growing, we recommend Chaiyo Universal Substrate as a suitable potting base. If your growing area is more humid, shaded, low-airflow, or the media stays wet for too long, add Perlite or French Bark Nugget 8–15mm to improve drainage and airflow when repotting.

Adjust watering based on sunlight, airflow, heat and humidity. Basil enjoys consistent moisture, but the media should not stay soggy.

Harvesting Tip
Snip leaves and top stems regularly to encourage bushier growth. Harvest before flowering for the best flavour and aroma.

Important Note
This is a live plant. Plant size, shape, fullness and leaf colour may vary slightly from photos. In some cases, the plant may be lightly pruned before delivery to reduce damage during packing and transport.
