Description

Italian Parsley, also known as Flat Leaf Parsley and scientifically known as Petroselinum crispum var. neapolitanum, is a fragrant edible herb known for its flat green leaves and fresh herbal flavour.

It is commonly used for garnishing, soups, salads, sauces, pasta, roasted dishes, western cooking and home herb gardens. Compared to curled parsley, Italian Parsley has flatter leaves and is often preferred for cooking due to its fresh, clean flavour.

Care Guide

Light: Full sun to partial shade, ideally 4–8 hours daily
Water: Keep media lightly moist, but not waterlogged
Airflow: Grow in a bright and airy location
Media: Repot using Chaiyo Universal Substrate
Optional Amendment: Add Perlite 2–4mm or French Bark Nugget 8–15mm if your growing area is humid, shaded, low-airflow or the media stays wet for too long
Avoid: Overwatering, soggy media and letting the plant dry out completely for long periods

Recommended Chaiyo Mix for Home Growing
At our Thailand nursery, we grow Italian Parsley using VEP Substrate under nursery growing conditions.

For home growing, we recommend
Chaiyo Universal Substrate as a suitable potting base. If your growing area is more humid, shaded, low-airflow, or the media stays wet for too long, add Perlite 2–4mm or French Bark Nugget 8–15mm to improve drainage and airflow.

Adjust watering based on sunlight, airflow, heat and humidity. Italian Parsley enjoys consistent moisture, but the media should not stay soggy.

Harvesting Tip
Harvest outer stems first and allow the centre to continue growing. Regular light harvesting encourages fresh new growth.

Important Note
This is a live plant. Plant size, shape and fullness may vary slightly from photos. Bare root Italian Parsley must be repotted as soon as possible after receiving.
