Light: Bright light to morning sun, ideally 4–6 hours daily
Water: Keep media consistently moist, but not waterlogged
Airflow: Grow in a bright and airy location
Media: Use Chaiyo VEP Substrate if repotting into a larger pot
Optional Amendment: Add a small amount of Perlite 2–4mm only if your growing area is low-airflow or the media stays overly wet
Avoid: Letting the plant dry out completely, soggy media and harsh afternoon sun immediately after repotting

At our Thailand nursery, we grow Kale Halbhoher using Chaiyo VEP Substrate under nursery growing conditions.
If repotting into a larger pot, we recommend
Chaiyo VEP Substrate as a suitable potting base. VEP Substrate is suitable for leafy greens and supports healthy leaf growth while helping the media hold consistent moisture.
Adjust watering based on sunlight, airflow, heat and humidity. Kale Halbhoher enjoys consistent moisture, but the media should not stay soggy.
Harvesting Tip
Harvest outer leaves when needed and allow the centre to continue growing. Regular light harvesting encourages fresh new leaves.
