Description
Perlite is a lightweight expanded volcanic mineral amendment that helps improve drainage, aeration and root airflow in potting mixes.
The 8-12mm grade is a coarse perlite size suitable for chunky aroid mixes, orchid mixes, large pots, house plants and plants that prefer a very airy growing media structure. It helps increase air pockets in the substrate and reduces the chance of overly compact media.
Perlite is best used by mixing it with other growing media. Avoid using it alone for long-term potting, as it does not hold enough nutrients by itself and may dry out too quickly for some plants.
