Russian Sage Perovskia Blue Steel, botanically listed as Perovskia atriplicifolia ‘Blue Steel’, is a fragrant ornamental flowering plant known for its silvery-green foliage, upright growth habit and soft blue-purple flower spikes.
It is commonly grown in ornamental gardens, balcony pots, cottage-style planters, fragrant garden displays and sunny outdoor spaces. Although it is called Russian Sage, it is not the same as common culinary sage used for cooking.
Our Russian Sage Perovskia Blue Steel plants are grown in our Thailand nursery following organic growing standards.

Light: Full sun, ideally 6–8 hours daily
Water: Water lightly and allow the top layer of media to dry slightly before watering again
Airflow: Grow in a bright and airy location
Media: Repot using a well-draining mix of Chaiyo Universal Substrate and French Bark Nugget 8–15mm
Optional Amendment: Add Perlite 2–4mm if your growing area is humid, shaded, low-airflow or the media stays wet for too long
Avoid: Overwatering, soggy media, dark corners and poor airflow
Recommended Chaiyo Mix for Home Growing
At our Thailand nursery, we grow Russian Sage Perovskia Blue Steel using Chaiyo Universal Substrate and French Bark Nugget 8–15mm under nursery growing conditions.
For Singapore home growing, we recommend
a well-draining mix of Chaiyo Universal Substrate with French Bark Nugget 8–15mm. This helps keep the media more airy and suitable for sunny, outdoor growing.
Adjust watering based on sunlight, airflow, heat and humidity. Russian Sage prefers a brighter, airier and less soggy growing environment compared to soft leafy herbs.
Flowering Note
Flowering depends on plant maturity, sunlight, care and growing conditions. Plants may not be flowering at the time of delivery.
